Second Annual Southeastern Probability Days

February 21 & 22, 1997

Third Announcement

Center for Applied Probability Georgia Tech

DEADLINE: Friday, January 31, 1997

There has been a slight change to the schedule. The other information is
unchanged.
18 Feb 1997.

We are holding our second annual meeting of probabilists in the
Southeast. The keynote speakers this year will be E. Cinlar and
D. W. Stroock. Each will be giving two talks. Professor Cinlar is
planning to speak about "Stochastic flows and mass transport;"
Professor Stroock intends to speak about "Analysis of Pathspace over
Reimannian Manifolds."

The conference will be loosely structured, with opportunities for
contributed talks and an open problem session. The main objective is to
make/renew contacts and exchange ideas.

REGISTRATION:

For planning purposes, the organizers would like to obtain information
on the number of attendees. If you are planning to attend and have
not done so already, please let Lorraine Shaw know. Lorraine can be
reached at:

(e-mail) lshaw@isye.gatech.edu
(fax) (404) 894-2301.

%If you plan to attend please send information similar to the following:
\Name{Robert D. Foley}
\Affiliation{Georgia Tech}
\Address{Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering
 \\ Georgia Tech \\ Atlanta, GA 30332}
\Phone{404-894-2309} \Eaddr{rfoley@isye.gatech.edu}

We have a limited number of dormitory rooms available. If you are
interested in one of the dormitory rooms (for either one or two people),
let Lorraine Shaw know as soon as possible. If it's still possible, she
will make arrangements, and the conference will cover the cost of the
room. If you are interested in a dorm room, send Lorraine your name,
arrival and departure dates and times, address, phone number, and e-mail
address.

If you would prefer nicer accomodations, then please make your own
arrangements. Several close hotels are:
Days Inn, 683 Peachtree St., NE, (404) 874-9200, ($55/single ??)
Renaissance Hotel, W. Peachtree St., (404) 881-6800 ($89/single ??)
Mariott Courtyard, 1132 Techwood Dr., (404) 607-1112, ($75/single ??)

LOCATION: The conference will be in the Manufacturing Research
Center, 813 Ferst Drive on the Georgia Tech Campus in Atlanta, Ga.

MAP: http://nanjing.isye.gatech.edu/cap/wsmap.gif. The conference is
in the Manufacturing Research Center which is the rectangular building
directly north of the building marked 1 (the Instructional Center).
As you travel from the Instructional Center to the Manufacturing
Research Center, you pass by the parking lot for the brave. The
parking lot for the faint of heart is the area marked with horizontal
lines immediately southwest of the Instructional Center.

DIRECTIONS:
By MARTA: Take the North-South Marta train ($1.50) to the North Avenue
exit. The station is on the northeast corner of West Peachtree and
North Ave. Walk west along North Ave. past the Varsity and over the
expressway. After the football stadium take the steps up and enter the
campus. Walk diagonally across the campus and ask some students where
the Manufacturing Research Center.

By CAR: If you are entering Atlanta from I-20 or while travelling
north on I-75 or I-85: I-75 and I-85 merge in Atlanta to form
I-75/85. (If you are on I-20, go north on I-75/85 in the center of
Atlanta.) Exit the expressway at Exit 100 which is the Spring St. and
West Peachtree St. exit. Turn left at the second light onto West
Peachtree St. Turn left at the first light onto North Ave.. Travel
west on North Avenue and follow the signs to the "Center for the
Arts". These signs will ask you to turnright onto Tech Parkway which
is the second traffic light along the GT campus, then turn right at
the first light, and then you are forced to turn either right or left
onto Ferst Drive. Now go to the parking directions section.

By car, entering Atlanta while travelling south on I-75 or I-85: I-75
and I-85 merge in Atlanta to form I-75/85. Exit the expressway at Exit
100 which is the North Ave. exit. Turn right at the top of the ramp
onto North Ave.. Travel west on North Avenue and follow the signs to
the "Center for the Arts." These signs will ask you to turn right
onto Tech Parkway which is the second traffic light along the GT
campus, then turn right at the first light, and then you are forced to
turn either right or left onto Ferst Drive. Now go to the parking
directions section below.

PARKING DIRECTIONS: There are 2 options:

For the brave of heart: Turn left onto Ferst Street, then turn right
into the first driveway along side the Groseclose (ISyE) bldg. The
key code for the parking lot is #2365, but don't tell anyone I told
you. Go to the far end of the lot and park and the closest building
is the Manufacturing Research Center. You may get a citation for
parking here, but rumor has it that if you are NOT from Georgia Tech,
you can write visitor on the ticket along with the reason for your
visit to campus and the ticket will be voided. Lorraine Shaw might be
able to get you a visitor permit.

For the faint of heart: Turn right onto Ferst Street, then immediately
turn left into the first driveway and follow the signs to the visitor
parking area. I think there is a fee of $4. Walk north past the
Instructional Center to the Manufacturing Research Center.
