Package Car Utilization and Optimization

Goals

· Determine proper size vehicle to be used on individual routes in the Georgia District
· Assign proper size vehicles to routes
· Propose reassignment of vehicles between buildings to maximize car utilization
· Determine average cubic size of packages by facility

Senior Design Group will gather data on current car utilization at each
operating center. Data will be analyzed for necessary improvement and
maximization of package car utilization. The group will assist in the
assignment of new vehicles arriving in the 2nd quarter 2000. Students will
also evaluate the peak season vehicle needs for the district and propose a
rental plan for Peak Season 2000.
