  • The Littlefield Game is an online simulation of a factory. We will play against 3 classes of undergraduates.
    • Make sure to purchase your Littlefield game license in the bookstore (one per person)!
    • The team assignments are here. Please contact all team members to make sure they are still in the class (10/10).
    • Registration instructions are available.
    • The first game runs 5:00 pm Thurs Oct 31 - 5:00 pm Thurs Nov 7 (report due Nov 12).

Exams

  • First exam will be on Thursday 9/26 in class.
  • A Practice Quiz from 2000 is available here. (9/17)
  • Second exam is listed on the syllabus for 10/31, but it will likely be later, possibly the 2nd - 2nd week in November. (9/21).
  • (10/17) Exams are graded, scores are in ITWeb, and solutions are outside my door.
  • Second exam will be held Tuesday, Nov 19 for in-class students.
    • Exam covers MRP & ERP, lot-sizing, JIT, process & flow variability, Little's Law, etc., but not Chapter 10 (except 10.4).

  • Final Exam is Tues Dec 10 at 8am
    • Exam is comprehensive but is more heavily weighted towards later material.
    • You will be allowed 1 page (front and back) to write formulas, and I will provide the same formula sheet as for the first exam as well as a Normal table.

Resources

  • Factory Physics webpage contains supplemental material for the course. Among other things, you can download corrected errors in the book and solution guide.

  • A Tutorial for AMPL (created by one of the students in the class). This is designed to help you be proficient with AMPL software, not learn how to write optimization models. The authors request feedback if you have any.

  • Guest Lecture: Thurs 11/21: Ron Veith on industry and implementation issues with ERP, SAP, etc. Mr. Veith is a former partner with Anderson Consulting and has extensive experience working with industry, including many global projects.

  • Guest Lecture: Thurs 11/7: Ab Stevels on Planning Take-Back and Recycling Systems. Dr. Stevels is the Anderson/Interface Visiting Chair in Natural Systems, from the Philips Consumer Electronics Environmental Competence Center in The Netherlands.
