Dear Sirs and Madams:

The Applied Statistics Program and the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering has a proven track record of working with companies, university departments, state and federal agencies, and non-profit organizations to provide statistical data analysis and consulting services, to improve business operational efficiency, to enhance company's competitiveness, and to solve specific problems requested by clients. We are able to keep our fee quite reasonable and competitive with industry standards since private industry funded projects often allow us to win National Science Foundation matching funds for educating the next generation of problem solvers. In any case, our motivation is the valuable chance for our students to demonstrate and hone their problem solving skills while working on projects with you.

Our program can serve as a window for partners to access the talents in the Georgia Institute of Technology, including various programs in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, many departments and schools in the university, and in other programs around the nation that we have a relationship with. Our mission is to solve problems specified by sponsors like you. Often a team effort between different disciplines and schools is required for an efficient approach to problem solving and so we will take the responsibility to organize the team to respond to the challenge from our partners. We have had several successful projects done by teams from several different programs.

Our graduate and undergraduate students, research staff, and faculty are willing to work on research and development problems or to provide specific services to you in a timely manner. This will save some of you head counts and limited resources. It is also very possible that you can recruit future employees from people working on projects with you. A summary of advantages of using our service is enclosed for your review. Moreover, we are looking forward to utilizing the resources supported by partners to win grants or awards from government agencies. Hence, your support becomes the engine of stimulating the outreach, research, and educational functions of our program.

We would like to explore the potential of building a long-term relationship with your organization. Enclosed is a list of current and past projects for a small sample of the capabilities that we can provide. Also enclosed is a brief description of our organization, milestone accomplishments and goals for the coming year. Please examine these materials to see how our services can be valuable to you. We can easily to be reached at (404) 894-2318 (O), (770) 622-2140 (H), JCLU@sisye.gatech.edu. With your help we can create the best educational, research and outreach program in the nation. Your efforts and time in going through this promotional package are greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jye-Chyi (JC) Lu
