 EDUCATION

  WORKING EXPERIENCE

I worked and studied in the area of materials and materials science for more than 8 years at Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences after graduation from one of Chinas key Universities--Tianjin University in Chemical Engineering. After that, I spent most of my time on management of science and technology, and served as deputy general manager (1987- 1991, associate professor, professor from 1989) at Shanghai Industry Foundation, main chief of the Office for S&T Management (1978-1984) and deputy head of the Office for Education at Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences one another. In the latter position, I supervised 15 managers who, in turn, supervised the whole institutes approximately 600 researchers and engineers. The Shanghai Institute of ceramics is a world-class unit of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. I held managerial positions in China for more than 10 years, and still have many good contacts. Also, I have experience in development and implementation of QC/standards engineering programs in various products. My field is management of science and technology, including computer applications in management, technology transfer, technology forecasting and assessment, science and technology policy, project management, and Technology Opportunities Analysis (TOA).
