The School of Industrial and Systems Engineering includes a Ph.D. program
for Applied Statistics, with emphasis on the use of statistics in a
technological environment. In the Applied Statistics Program, a student
may specialize in a specific area of application such as manufacturing
statistics, reliability and quality control, simulation, or more traditional
areas of statistical research. Students in this program study the mathematics
needed for advanced work in probability and statistics as well as necessary
advanced work in an application area. Graduates typically go on to careers
on university facilities in statistics, engineering, or management,
as well as in industry or government positions as researchers or consultants.
