Chapter 5

Exercise 5.7 (page 58). As stated the answer is trivial. The question is more interesting if the system is in series instead of parallel.

Exercise 5.13 (page 59). Index in the equation in (i) should be k = i, i +1, ..., N − n + i.

Chapter 6

(page 102). For the runs test, the PMF for the distribution of runs includes terms that should be defined as zero in the case the numerator’s combination does not exist.

Exercise 6.10 (page 111). Lancaster’s method is mentioned only in passing. This will be further expounded in the next edition of the text.
