OVERVIEW
The fifth Teaching Effectiveness Colloquium is being organized by the INFORM-ED
and INFORMS Education Committee and is designed to address the growing concern
for the quality of both undergraduate and graduate level OR/MS instruction.
This colloquium is targeted toward faculty and doctoral students who are interested
in current trends in teaching in OR/MS. A series of sessions given by successful
and effective teachers will be included in this colloquium, providing an opportunity
for teachers at any stage of their professional development to pursue continuous
improvement. Important takeaways from this colloquium include an understanding
of what works best for teaching OR/MS to different students (undergraduate,
graduate, M.B.A.); knowledge of available software for a variety of topics;
how to use the web effectively; and strategies for achieving excellence in
the classroom.
